Rage Against the Machine, ook wel bekend als RATM, is een Amerikaanse rap metal band uit Los Angeles, Californi. Gevormd in 1991, bestaat de groep uit rapper / zanger Zack de la Rocha, bassist en backing vocalist Tim Commerford, gitarist Tom Morello en drummer Brad Wilk. Ze laten zich inspireren door vroege heavy metal-instrumenten, maar ook door rapacts zoals Afrika Bambaataa, Public Enemy, de Beastie Boys en de Nederlandse cross-overband Urban Dance Squad. Rage Against the Machine is het best bekend om zijn linkse politieke opvattingen, die in veel van zijn liederen tot uiting komen. Vanaf 2010 hebben ze meer dan 16 miljoen records wereldwijd verkocht.
