Etta James (geboren Jamesetta Hawkins, 25 januari 1938 - 20 januari 2012) was een Amerikaanse zangeres die verschillende muziekgenres overspande, waaronder blues, R & B, soul, rock and roll, jazz en gospel.
James wordt beschouwd als als het overbruggen van de kloof tussen ritme en blues en rock and roll, en was de winnaar van zes Grammy's en 17 Blues Music Awards. Ze werd ingewijd in de Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, de Blues Hall of Fame in 2001, en de Grammy Hall of Fame in zowel 1999 als 2008. Rolling Stone rangschikte James nummer 22 op hun lijst van de 100 Greatest Singers of All Tijd en nummer 62 op de lijst van de 100 beste artiesten.
